Due to many varied issues, modems can be damaged. These causes include
power surges on the power supply as well as down the phone line. Modems
are also suseptible to damge from lightning stikes comming down the phone
lines and power lines. During storms we suggest unlugging both the power
supply and phone line to avoid these issues.

Solution:

If you are able to borrow a modem and test your connection to
see if another modem fixes the problem or take it to your local
computer technician for further investigation.
